To the editor:

I recently read a very brief book by Andy Andrew. It is an account of how the Nazi genocide came about.

Adolf Eichmann was an Nazi S.S. officer, and as operational manager he had a major problem: How to transport Jews to death camps and to get them to go willingly?

His solution was to have barbed wire fences encircle entire Jewish neighborhoods. Eichmann, with unknowing Jewish leaders, went to the people stating that the fence was temporary, but necessary because of the war, and if they cooperated, no harm would come to them. Jews began bribing officers for better living conditions — the acceptance convinced them the encampment was only temporary.

When it was time to implement his plan, Jewish men of prominence and a few armed soldiers joined Eichmann, who addressed the people stating that the Russians were advancing, the Nazis couldn’t protect them anymore, that they only wanted the best for them and they would be leaving shortly.

Men were encouraged to aid the women and children as they helped them into cattle cars, so the boarding of the overcrowded trains was orderly.

The deception, a sense of security and trust given to the Nazis stopped uprisings and the feeling of a need to escape.

The name of the book is “How Do You Kill 11 Million People? Why the Truth Matters More Than You Think.” The answer is  — you lie to them.

We the people are responsible to elect representatives of moral character, who are not corrupt, who have knowledge of our laws and enforce them and who have a belief in individual liberty. This is what will make this nation great.
