Thanks for backing Toronto banquet

To the editor:

The members of the Toronto Coalition for Revitalization; Rob Merideth, a board member; and I would like to thank the first responders not only in Toronto but in all communities both large and small across America.

The coalition would like to thank the churches, civic organization and businesses in Toronto that assisted in funding the Aug. 14 appreciation banquet. That list includes: Cornerstone Church, St. Francis/St. Joseph Catholic Church, St. Joseph Byzantine Church, First Presbyterian Church,  First United Methodist Church, Riverview Methodist Church and New Beginnings Baptist Church. The civic organizations which assisted include American Legion Post 86, the Toronto Kiwanis Club and Toronto Masonic Lodge 583. Businesses are Clarke Funeral Home, Anderson-Campbell Insurance, Toronto Apothecary and Ratti State Farm Insurance.

We also want to express sincere appreciation to the government officials who attended and presented certificates of appreciation to all first responders in Toronto. That includes state Sen. Lou Gentile, D-Steubenville;  state Rep. Jack Cera, D-Bellaire; Jefferson County commissioners Thomas Graham, Tom Gentile and Dave Maple; Bianca Koup, field representative for U.S. Rep. Bill Johnson, R-Marietta; and Toronto Mayor John Parker.

As you see by the above, it was much more than the Toronto Coalition for Revitalization that hosted the banquet. Thanks to all who attended the banquet to show support and appreciation to the first responders. Toronto truly is a Gem City.
