Back-to-school event successful

To the editor:

On Aug. 13, Pine Grove United Methodist Church, which sits on top of Pine Grove Ridge approximately 3.7 miles from Hammondsville on county Road 72, where there are more cows than people, offered a carnival and back-to-school bash that was open to the general public. A lot of planning and labor, as well as a lot of donations, provided for an exciting and fun-filled day. There were around 45 young people who came and played games and won prizes at the carnival. We were able to provide school supplies, including bookbags, backpacks, notebooks, pencils, crayons, etc., for all who attended

A supply of hot dogs, sloppy joes, cheese nachos, popcorn and a beverage, with lemonade and sno-cones aplenty, were available from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., when the event closed.

I would like to thank the people of Pine Grove UMC, Secret Sisters and, most of all, Jesus Christ for providing the needs for this blessed event.
