National Hospital Week recognition
To the editor:
“Healthcare from the Heart” was the 2016 American Hospital Association’s theme for National Hospital Recognition Week, honoring all those who serve community members in meeting their health and wellness needs, and which ends today.
I am honored to work alongside all employees at Trinity Health System. Orienting and facilitating learning opportunities for employees over many years, I deeply appreciate the knowledge, technical, interpersonal and professional skills that our clinical and nonclinical staff bring to our patients and one another every day. Our belief at Trinity Health System is that the patient is at the center of all that we do.
I, along with our nonclinical employees, support those who care directly for patients. Our employees shine … they graduated and continue through various levels of customer service training that have included how well we provide service and how patients perceive our service. Our administration shines … they encourage participation to keep on top of improving patient care via our Quest Service Teams: The Mission Team, which keeps Trinity’s core values of reverence – integrity, compassion and excellence – at the forefront of all interactions; the Employee Reward and Recognition Team, which identifies ways to celebrate employee efforts and reward them (i.e. service awards, employee of the month); the Communication Team, which ensures communication boards are up to date and employee forums are offered regularly; and the “WOW” Team, which provides fun activities like picnics, pool parties and other activities to keep our work force inspired.
Our employees continuously participate on other teams to improve patient flow, reduce re-admissions to the hospital and improve department work processes.
Our physicians shine … on top of the newest procedures and practice in evidence-based medicine. A global campus leading initiative is providing training for up-and-coming staff-physician leaders. Employees are invited to participate in an employee engagement fair during May which includes table displays, hands-on demonstrations and related information from Eastern Gateway Community College, Public Library of Steubenville and Jefferson County, YMCA, WOW Team, the sleep lab, Images, Prime Time Office on Aging, wound care, behavioral health, cardiopulmonary rehab, pastoral care, materials management, quality outcomes, diabetes educations, breast and cervical grant program, nutritional services, express care and work care.
Other staff celebrations include a blessing of hands by our pastoral care department, sundae bar, spring communication board Olympics, casual dress day, leadership development institute and get-to-know-your co-worker activities.
National Hospital Week is a time to reflect on all the focused efforts at Trinity Health System that define our strength and presence in the Tri-State Area. Thank you, Trinity employees and physicians for “making Trinity the best place to work, the best place to receive care, and the best place for physicians to practice medicine.”
