Questions about appointment

To the editor:

At the July 8 City Council meeting, 1st Ward Councilman Gerald DiLoreto found it necessary to resort to a written statement in order to launch his latest attack upon those who invest in real estate within the city.

DiLoreto saw fit to place blame upon those entrepreneurs for most of the city’s problems, ignoring the fact that the truth of the matter is that most of the problems facing Steubenville are the result of the city failing to enforce the codes passed by previous councils, of which DiLoreto was a member. After having displayed a hostility toward landlords and those who receive government housing assistance throughout his tenure as a councilman, it is very hard to understand why Mayor Domenick Mucci would see fit to appoint him to the Jefferson Metropolitan Housing board, which is charged with administering this aid.
