Animal Welfare event a success

To the editor:

The Jefferson County Animal Welfare League’s 40th anniversary “Around the World” dinner July 13 at St. Florian Hall in Wintersville was an absolute success, attended by more than 300 animal lovers. Not only was the food delicious, the tables decorated by St. Florian Hall caterer Todd Piergallini were phenomenal and breathtaking – each one was decorated and represented a different country.

There were 70 expensive items in the silent auction. All 300 guests received a present or store or restaurant gift cards ranging in value from $15 to $35. All were donated by our animal-loving sponsors.

The 50-50 drawing – $868 – was won by Sylvia Martin.

This could not have been such a great success without our skilled planner and fundraiser queen, Janet Polverini.

I am sorry I could not have spend more time talking to the people, but it seemed like I was pulled in many different directions.

Thanks to everyone for celebrating our 40th, including state Rep. Jack Cera, D-Bellaire.

I could go on and on about the wonderful event, but they say “brevity is the sign of wit,” so I’ll just sign my name and quit.
