AIM event a success

To the editor:

On Sept. 21, the AIM Women’s Center hosted a walk and 5K fun run for life. In spite of the rain, more than 131 supporters were in attendance. We would like to thank everyone involved in helping make our event a great success. We exceeded our goal. We raised more than $19,000.

We’d like to thank our underwriters: Christian Fellowship Foundation; Dr. Tom Matanzo, DDS; Christopher Wright; the Center of Music and Art; the Diocese of Steubenville; Catholics United for the Faith; Nelson Fine Arts and Gifts; Holy Family Medical Practice; HyperDo Media; Dr. John Balzano and family; State Park Motors; Franciscan University of Steubenville; Dr. and Mrs. Eric Balzano; Hindman Family Services; McBane Insurance and Financial Services; and the Ridgefield Group.

We are indebted to Mayor Domenick Mucci and the City of Steubenville for the use of the Jim Wood Park facility. Thank you to Bob Lesnefsky and the Urban Underground for generously lending us their sound equipment. And, thank you to Jennifer LeFever for taking pictures. We are grateful to Mr. and Mrs. Jaime Connor; Mr. and Mrs. Jody Hartzell; Mr. Bob Merriman of the Wintersville Trophy Shop; Mr. and Mrs. Donald Vandeborne; the Rev. Clint Quillen; Create-A-Room; Mr. and Mrs. Robert Coniker; Wheeler Funeral Home; and Flannery, Siena and Francesca McGovern for their donations of money, gifts and food items for the walk/fun run.

The AIM Women’s Center would also like to thank Justine Schmiesing for all her help with the 5K route and Dan Kuebler and the Franciscan University cross country team for their help at the finish line. Many thanks go to the CCHS Key Club and Franciscan University groups: Enactus (previously S.I.F.E), Stella Maria household, Fiat Sanctae Familiae household and Servants of the Eucharistic Heart of Jesus household for volunteering on the day of the event. We are grateful to all the participants who came out on Saturday morning and took the time to find sponsors. The AIM Women’s Center would also like to thank the more than 190 people who sponsored these walker and runners.
