Brooke football players are special
To the editor:
I have written before about how well the Brooke County School District and its administration have stepped up to help my son, Matteo Filippelli.
Today I have to give a huge shout out to a wonderful speech teacher, Dana Cuomo and her sign crew. This year, seven players (three freshmen and four sophomores) on the Brooke High School football team contacted Cuomo and asked if they could spend some of their own time learning and practicing sign language. This was solely to help them communicate with my son.
Brooke High School does not offer a sign language class at this time. No grades, no special treatment, just kids wanting to be able to communicate with their friend. So from the bottom of our family’s heart, thank you, Matt Hartman, Aaron Walker, Justin Elliott, Michael Kurcina, Thomas Cole, Justin Loughrie, Matthew Lazear and Mrs. Cuomo.
You are all very special and it’s an honor for Matty to call you friends. And, from Matty, “Thank you for helping me. You are great friend. See you at football practice this summer.”
