Festival of Arts shines in Toronto

Focus in Toronto is to be congratulated for keeping the annual Toronto Festival of Arts alive to see its 39th run, beginning Saturday at 10 a.m. and continuing through the day on Sunday.

Centered around the city’s Gazebo Commons area at the center of town, more than 100 craft vendors, artists and more will take part in an entertainment-filled end-of-summer event that welcomes families.

From home decorations to artworks to live musical performances, the Toronto Festival of Arts keeps visitors looking from booth to booth at the variety of talent in the region.

For those inclined to see some artworks on four wheels, the festival began a car show in 2015, and the show returns this year as part of the festival’s opening.

Games, giveaways and hometown Toronto items are all part of the festival, which has added a “Teeny-Tiny Turtle Race,” giving festival-goers a chance to purchase a little floating turtle to be raced on the river Sunday at 3 p.m. for a chance at prizes.

We salute the hard work it takes for small towns to put on a successful annual event and are happy that Toronto continues this tradition held on the Labor Day weekend.
