Summer concerts made area smile

The summer season is coming to an end, and with it the end of local summer concert series.

Both Steubenville and Weirton once again put together successful series, featuring a variety of music and entertainment for residents of the Upper Ohio Valley.

Whether gathering at the Louis and Sandra Berkman Amphitheater in Steubenville on Thursdays or the Weirton Event Center on Fridays, residents know they are in for a great evening of live music and community fellowship.

From classic rock to country, oldies, bluegrass and some local rising stars, as well as a Neil Diamond tribute group and the Glenn Miller Orchestra, our local summer concerts provided an evening of free entertainment for all ages.

Each week, hundreds would visit Historic Fort Steuben and the Weirton Event Center to sit back, relax and listen to some great music, much of it provided by singers and bands from the Tri-State Area.

We thank all those who have been involved in putting these concerts together, and hope they continue to do so for years to come. But remember, even though the concerts in Weirton and Steubenville are finished, there still will be an opportunity to listen to some local music.

Toronto’s concert series began Aug. 4 and will continue through the end of September, with performances at 7 p.m. each Thursday at the city’s gazebo commons.

We encourage residents to continue to take advantage of these wonderful opportunities to enjoy our communities, and look forward to next year.
