Service recognized today in Weirton
For many years, our area has strived to find ways to recognize those citizens who find a way to contribute toward its growth and successes.
Such a recognition will take place today with the induction of the 2016 class of the Weirton Hall of Fame.
The hall was created eight years ago as a way to honor those who have found ways to go above and beyond in their service to Weirton since its incorporation in 1947.
Among those set for induction this afternoon during a dinner at the Millsop Community Center are Dennis Jones, in the category of public service; Dr. Madhu Aggarwal, in the category of philanthropy; Fred A. Barnabei, in the category of public service; Jessica Marinea Dettore, in the category of music and fine arts; James T. Wares in the category of education; Walter Larch, in the category of business; John J. Sorrenti, in the category of sports/athletics; Judge Callie Tsapis, in the category of public service; and William “Bill” Tucker, in the category of sports/athletics.
Our area has had many distinguished residents, each finding ways to contribute toward the betterment of their communities and their neighbors. Whether it is through the growth of a business, their volunteer work, the efforts to provide educational opportunities or more, we applaud each of their efforts and know the residents of today appreciate their work.
We congratulate those who are being inducted, and thank those involved in making sure their contributions will be remembered for generations to come.
