Emma Fanchini

Emma Angeline Fanchini, 96, of Piney Fork, OH, passed away peacefully in her sleep, after a period of declining health, at the Gables Care Center in Hopedale, OH.

Emma was born January 22, 1923 in Hopedale, daughter of the late Joseph and Margaret (Piccin) DeNardi.

She worked 28 years for the U.S. Post Office, retiring as the postmaster in Piney Fork.

Emma was a charter member of the Piney Fork Presbyterian Church, where she held various offices. She was a member of the Presbyterian Women and the Rebecca Lodge. She was a 1941 graduate of Smithfield High School and a former member of the Smithfield Sr. Citizens.

In addition to her parents, Emma was preceded in death by her husband, Ezio ‘Ikey’ Fanchini, who passed away on August 2, 1992; her three sisters, Rose, Mary and Clara; her brother, August; and her nephew, David Albani.

Surviving are her three nieces, Barbara (George) Harrah of Smithfield, OH, Sharon Gump of Freeport, OH and Diane Hodgson of Gilbert, AZ; three nephews, Joe (Janet) Domenico of Milwaukie, OR, Jeff (Carol) Fomenko of Piney Fork and Roger (Marlene) DeNardi of Carollton, OH.

Visitation will be held Saturday May 11, 2019 from 10 a.m. to noon at the J.E. Foster Funeral Home in Smithfield. Her funeral service will be held at noon with Rev. Jim Taylor officiating, and burial will follow in Northern Cemetery in Smithfield. www.jefosterfh.com.
