Gene D. Campana, 97, of Wintersville died Friday, Dec. 29, 2017, at Trinity West.
He was born Oct. 24, 1920, in Steubenville. He is the son of the late Eustachio and Tomasina Madama Campana.
Gene also was preceeded in death by his wife, Violet Stankiewicz Campana; three brothers, Tony, Albert and Joseph Campana; two sisters, Mary Posar and Ann Benos; and great-granddaughter, Baby Lucy Marie Quinn.
Gene was a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. He retired from Weirton Steel with 34 years of service. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II.
Surviving are one son, Robert (Lorrie) Campana with whom he resided; one daughter, Marlene (James) Niehaus of Bellaire; twin sister, Edith Vallis of Mingo Junction; grandchildren, Angela (Ryan) Quinn, Michael (Shanna) Franke, Gena Niehaus, Christian (Jessica) Niehaus; great-grandchildren, Delani Reynolds, Christopher Reynolds, Jack Quinn, Michael Campana, Cameron Franke, and Addison Armann; and his household buddy, Raymond “Pint” DelFiandra.
He was an avid reader. He loved fishing and bowling.
Calling hours are Wednesday, Jan. 3, 2018, at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church from 11 a.m. until the time of mass at 1 p.m. Entombment will follow at Mount Calvary Cemetery.
