Paul C. Bailey

Paul Clifford Bailey of Kittery, ME, passed away peacefully on November 2, 2017, at the age of 92. Paul was born in Pittsburgh, PA, on November 26, 1924, to Donn and Ora (Canter) Bailey.

Paul grew up in WV, graduating from Weir High in Weirton, WV, in 1943. He was a decorated veteran of the U.S. Army during World War II while serving in the 333rd Engineer Special Service Regiment. He served again stateside during the Korean War.

An independent businessman, Paul owned and operated Bailey’s Auto Mart for many years in Steubenville and Wintersville, OH. A private pilot, he also managed the airport in Wintersville. He later owned and operated five Burger Chef restaurants in San Antonio, Texas.

Paul spent his retirement years in Florida. He enjoyed being close to the racing community in Daytona Beach and was a member of a number of fraternal organizations.

Paul’s upbeat personality, hard work, and energetic nature enabled him to achieve much professionally and won him many friends wherever he went. He valued his friends and remained loyal to and interested in them over the years.

He is survived by two daughters and their husbands, Ernest and Sheila Bailey Rossi and Glen and Sharon Bailey Bates, as well as five grandchildren and three great-granddaughters.

Paul was greatly comforted by Rosie The Therapy Dog during his last months. Friends who wish to honor Paul’s memory are encouraged to do so by contributing to The Alliance of Therapy Dogs (Scholarship Fund), PO Box 20227, Cheyenne, WY 82003.

Interment in West Virginia was private.
