Robert ‘Fuzzy’ Mayle

Robert F. “Fuzzy” Mayle Sr., 77, of New Alexandria, OH, was called home to be with the Lord on Monday August 14, 2017, in the Valley Hospice Care Center North in Steubenville, OH, surrounded by loved ones.

He was born July 6, 1940, in Dillonvale, OH, a son of the late Calvin and Anna Mae (Bateman) Mayle. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife of 53 years, Dorothy V. ‘Dot’ Mayle, on May 11, 2013; his beloved granddaughter, Jessica Marie Mayle; two brothers, David and infant Roger Mayle; and two sisters, Carrie Merritt and R. Ann Davis.

Fuzzy was a laborer out of Local Laborers 809 in Steubenville, and he also worked at WB Coal for 15 years. He was a member of the Rush Run Community Chapel, and a former member of the New Alexandria Fire Department. He was a former president and coach for the Brilliant Little League and Babe Ruth, coaching three championships (1968, 1972 and 1975). He cut the grass at New Alexandria for over 25 years.

Fuzzy’s hobbies included antiques, following NASCAR, the New York Jets, the Cleveland Indians and playing on the computer. He was also an avid golfer, founding the Thirsty Thursday Golf League at Paradise Hills.

Surviving are his daughter, Renee Mayle of New Alexandria, OH; a son, Robert F. “Bub” (Mary K. Faldowski) Mayle Jr. of New Alexandria, OH; a grandson, Robert “Bo” (Presley Cupp) Mayle III of Steubenville, OH; three brothers, Calvin “Whip” (Dottie McGee) Mayle of Riddles Run, OH, Lloyd “Fickle” Mayle of Shinnston, WV, Charles (JoAnn) Mayle of Hopewell, VA; and two sisters, Gerri (Hockenberry) Reed of Steubenville, OH and Eleanor Mathias of Wintersville, Ohio.

A special thank you to his niece, Jodi Maple, for all of the care and help she provided to Fuzzy, and also to Valley Hospice for the care and support they have given the last several months.

Graveside services will be held on Thursday, August 17, at noon at New Alexandria Cemetery, with Pastor Jim Monigioudis, officiating. Friends and family will be received at the Wells Township Community Center following the service.

In lieu of flowers, Fuzzy would have liked any memorial contributions go to the Jessica M. Mayle Scholarship Fund, c/o Robert F. Mayle Jr., 725 County Road 19, Mingo Junction, OH 43938.
