Dolores Pietranton

PIETRANTON, Dolores K., 90, of New Cumberland, passed away, surrounded by family, while hospitalized in Pittsburgh on Nov. 15, 2016.

Born in 1926 in Steubenville, OH, Dolores was the daughter of the late Constantine and Helen Glajewski Kozielska.

She was also preceded in death by her husband, Frank A. Pietranton and her sister, Beatrice A. Figlioli.

Mrs. Pietranton was a legal secretary who devoted her life to her family and her community. In her youth, Dolores was May Queen at Sacred Heart of Mary and a Majorette at Weirton High School.

During her sons’ childhood, she served as a PTA President, Girl Scout Leader, and Den Mother. As a legal secretary , she won an award – National Secretarial Golden Gloves Award – for her unmatched typing skills. An active member of Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church in New Cumberland  she served as Choir Director and Organist. Dolores was a political activist and often held fundraising events for candidates of the Democratic Party. An avid gardener, she enjoyed spending time outdoors in the summer months.

Dolores’s greatest joy was her family, and she lived a full life, attending family events, passing on treasured traditions, and traveling with family.  Mother, grandmother, aunt, cousin, niece, friend – she filled these roles with warmth, joy, and love.

She is survived by her sons, Joseph Pietranton of New Cumberland, WV , Eric (Mary Lou) Pietranton of Weirton, WV,  and Perry Pietranton of New Cumberland, WV; a step-son, Frank (Arlene) Pietranton of Washington, D.C.; five grandchildren: Marc, Frank, Vincent, and Angelica Pietranton and Erica Yacoviello; two step- grandchildren: Amsley and Kelsey Pietranton,  and two great-grandchildren: Mia and Dominic Pietranton.

A memorial will be held at the Sacred Heart of Mary Roman Catholic Church in Weirton at 10 a.m. on Saturday.
