Richard Dalton

DALTON, Richard R., 78, of Dillonvale, OH, died June 16, 2016, in Steubenville.

He was born May 12, 1938, in McIntyre, OH, to the late Raymond and Elizabeth Toney Dalton.

Richard was a graduate of Smithfield High School. He went on to be a crane operator with Wheeling Steel. He was a lifetime member of Shaffer Chapel African Methodist Episcopal Church.

In addition to his parents, Raymond and Elizabeth Toney Dalton, Richard was preceded in death by mother and father-in-law, the Reverend Virgil and Evangelist Evelyn Cooper; daughter- in-law, Suzanne Dalton; son-in-law, Michael Jackson; and brothers, Clarence Toney, Floyd Thompson, and Raymond Dalton Jr.

Richard is survived by his devoted and loving wife of 58 years, Nancy Dalton; five children, Natalie Jackson of Valencia, PA, Melissa Dalton of Columbus, OH, Richard (Dawn) Dalton of Columbus, OH, Teena Dalton of Medina, OH, and Roderic (Darlene) Dalton of Westerville, OH; two brothers, Garrett Dalton of Smithfield, OH and Martin (Dorothy) Dalton of Wintersville; a sister, Virginia Watts of Steubenville; two sisters-in-law, Estelle Dalton of Wintersville and Germaine Thompson of Smithfield; 10 grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.

Friends and family received Monday, June 20, 2016, at 10 a.m. until time of service at noon, Shaffer Chapel Church. The Reverand Melody Essex and Reverend Mary Ann Smith will officiate.
