Juanita Hilliard

Juanita E. Hilliard, 92, of Mingo Junction, OH, passed away suddenly Wednesday, December 3, 2014, at home.

She was born May 31, 1922, in Auburn, WV, a daughter of the late Lewis E. and Florence R. (Miller) Pierce.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Wayne H. Hilliard; and two sisters, Roxie Hardman and Lorraine Smith.

Juanita was a homemaker. She was a member of the New Alexandria United Methodist Church, where she was a Sunday school teacher for over 30 years and sang in the choir. She was also a member of the United Methodist Womens Association.

Surviving are a daughter, Reretta (Raymond) Long of Mingo Junction; three sons, Fredrick (Chryl) Hilliard of Duncan Falls, OH, Robert (Charlene) Hilliard of St. Marys, WV, and Lewis (Marilyn) Hilliard of Henderson, NV; four brothers, Jacob Pierce of Milltown, IN, Elmer Pierce of West Union, WV, Lewis F. Pierce of Pennsboro, WV, and Richard Pierce of Pennsboro, WV; a sister, Leona McVay of Lumberton, NC; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and one great- great-grandchild.

Friends will be received on Friday from 4-8 p.m. at the Wheeler Funeral Home, 712 Third St., Brilliant, where her funeral service will be held on Saturday at 1 p.m. with Pastor Jimm Woods officiating. Interment at New Alexandria Cemetery.
