Norris Peterson

PETERSON, Mr. Norris Stanley (Cigar Pete), 83, of Steubenville went home to Paradise on Aug. 5, 2014.

He was born on Sept. 8, 1930, in McIntyre, Ohio. He was a son of the late Hattie Smith and Bruce Peterson.

Mr. Pete was honorably discharged from the United States Army and was a veteran of the Korean War, member of the American Legion, and a member of the Second Baptist Church.

He retired from Weirton Steel and enjoyed Christian fellowship with friends at Shaffer Chapel A.M.E. Church and Second Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Annabelle Hawkins Peterson.

He leaves behind four daughters, Selena Jones of Weirton, WV, Lorraine Jackson of Atlanta Georgia, Clarissa (Ronald) Peterson Scurry of Indianapolis, Indiana, and Vanessa Thompson of Steubenville, Ohio; three sons, Norris (Kimberly) Peterson Jr. (Little Pete) of Washington, D.C., Jerome (Tasha) Peterson of Silver Springs, Virginia, Brett Peterson of Steubenville, Ohio; and special granddaughter Tamara (Victor) Jones Foster of Steubenville, Ohio; three brothers, Ernie (Virginia) Peterson of Wintersville, Ohio, Tyrone Brown of Youngstown, Ohio, and Jim (Valgene) Peterson, of Hopedale, Ohio; four sisters, Verta Cooper, of Steubenville, Ohio, Linda Hines of Fort Worth, Texas, Martha Miller, of Lordstown, Ohio, and Twyla Porter of Cleveland, Ohio; 28 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews other relatives and many friends.

Calling hours are Thursday, Aug. 7, 2014, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Vinson House of Mortuary.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 8, 2019, at Second Baptist Church with Rev. Calvin McLoyd, Sr. officiating.
