Harold Cooper

COOPER, Harold Murphy, 90, of Toronto, OH, passed away Oct. 5, 2013, surrounded by his children in Madison, GA. He was co-owner of Cooper’s Hardware and the Cooper Roller Rink in Toronto.

Harold was born July 22, 1923, to William Samuel and Alice Murphy Cooper.

He was a WWII Veteran serving as a weatherman in Europe, then graduating from Military Intelligence School at Camp Richey, MD. He attended Stanford, Oregon State, and graduated from Ohio State University. He was a founding member of the Toronto Business Association and Chamber of Commerce, and a member of Toronto Lodge 583. F&AM Masons, Lions Club, Dyer Country Club and the First Presbyterian Church in Toronto.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife, Joan.

Harold is survived by his daughter, Patricia Shepard of Norcross, GA, his sons David C. Cooper of Madison, GA and Thomas H. Cooper of Highlands, NC; his six grand children and two sisters.

A memorial service for Harold will be held on Saturday, July 5 at 2 p.m. at the J.E. Foster Funeral Home in Toronto, OH. Rev. Michael Bongart will officiate the service. www.jefosterfh.com.
