GIVENS, Dolores Staffileno, 82, passed away on June 30, 2014, due to the trauma of a fall.
She was born Nov. 17, 1931, in Wellsburg to Carmen and Jessie Staffileno, who both preceded her in death.
In 1955, she began a life-long love story when she married of 59 years, Roy E. Givens. It was her greatest honor to be his wife and stand beside him through his career and years of public service.
They raised their children, Jeff Givens and Susi (Givens) Melican into the family with lots of love. Dolores found great joy in doing lots of fun things and creating great memories worth her grandchildren, Adam Smith, Jordan Smith, Anna Smith, Andrew Givens, Elizabeth Givens, Tim Melican, Amy Rexroad and Kelley Coroglioniti.
Also dear to her heart were her great-grand children, Bradley Smith, Autumn Smith, Max Melican and Emma Jordan. Her best friend and sister, Mary Joyce Salerno and her husband, Lanny Salerno, live in Weirton.
In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her sister, Virginia (Raymond) Kaufmann; and brother, Carmen (Mary) Staffileno.
She was also grateful for her wonderful neighbors, especially Marla and Gary Mercer and John and Veronica Scherich for they did to help make life easier for her and her husband.
In addition to being a great wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Dolores spent her professional career as the Church Secretary at the Presbyterian Church in Wellsburg for 21 years.
She also served for many years in her church, The Community of Christ, teaching, fundraising and enjoying fellowship with her brothers and sisters in Christ.
Her creativeness provided lots of enjoyment to others and could easily be found in her beautiful flowers and love of gardening, her writing compositions and all of the great pictures she took to help document the years of love she spent with her family.
