Leonard E. Baldauf
Leonard Eugene Baldauf, 66, of Follansbee, passed away on Monday, May 5, 2014, at home while surrounded by family.
He was born on April 16, 1948, in Steubenville, OH, a son of the late Leo and Margaret (Nicol) Baldauf.
Lenny was a 1967 graduate of Follansbee High School. After high school he served his country as a member of the Army’s 101st Airborne during Vietnam. He was a Bronze Star and Purple Heart recipient. He retired from Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel where he worked as an electrician.
He was a member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, adjutant for Follansbee American Legion, past president of Warwood Redbirds Baseball, an avid bowler serving as past president of AAL Lanes in Steubenville, OH, a member of the Elm Grove Eagles, coached Small-fry wrestling, Island Eagles wrestling, Redbirds baseball, Warwood football and Warwood basketball. Lenny was also an avid hunter, fisherman, NASCAR and sports enthusiast cheering on the West Virginia Mountaineers, Pittsburgh Pirates and Pittsburgh Steelers.
He is survived by three children, Michelle (Steven) Lynn, Billings, MT, Corey Baldauf, Triadelphia, WV, and Troy (Kristin) Baldauf, Puyallup, WA; three brothers, David (Joyce) Baldauf, Greg (Brenda) Baldauf both of Follansbee, WV, and Ron (Becky) Baldauf, St. Johnsbury, VT; two sisters, Cathy Hawrus, Point Reyes, CA, and Lois Huggins of Follansbee, WV; one grandson, Josh Young with another grandchild on the way.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 8, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the Mullenbach Funeral Home, 669 Main St., Follansbee, WV. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, May 9, at 10 a.m.. at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Follansbee, WV with Rev. Msgr. Paul Hudock as celebrant. The American Legion and the Elm Grove Eagles will hold services on Thursday evening in the funeral home. Full military honors will be conducted by the Ohio Valley Veterans Memorial Squad. Interment will follow privately in Oak Grove Cemetery.
