Kenneth H. “Ken” “Chip” Kendle, 68, of Smithfield, Ohio passed away Saturday, May 17, 2014 in his home.
He was born April 2, 1946 in Dover, Ohio, a son of the late Walter E. and Matilda M. “Tillie” (Jones) Kendle.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Richard and Roger Kendle.
Ken retired from Consol Coal Mines in 2006 where he worked as a machine operator and line bolter. He served his country in the Marine Corps. during the Vietnam War. He was a member of the Kolmont Community Church and Mingo Sportsman’s Club. He enjoyed gardening, playing cards and working on lawn mowers.
Surviving are his wife, Pansey (Nitz) Kendle, whom he married on March 1, 1968; three sons, Kenneth C. (Anita) Kendle of Bergholz, Ohio, Robert Kendle of Smithfield, Ohio and Gary W. Kendle of Yorkville, Ohio; a daughter, Sherry (Michael) Bell of Smithfield, Ohio; two brothers, Melvin Kendle of Dillonvale, Ohio and Ronald (Elizabeth) Kendle of Richmond, Ohio; three sisters, Karen (Earl) Richardson, Gwendolyn (Lloyd) Moore and Drusilla “Jane” Teramana, all of Brilliant, Ohio; and six grandchildren.
Friends will be received at the Wheeler Funeral Home, 712 Third St., Brilliant on Monday from 4-8 p.m., and also on Tuesday from noon until the time of his funeral service at 1 p.m. with Rev. Sam Retzer, officiating.
Interment will follow at Holly Memorial Gardens in Colerain, Ohio with military honors by the Ohio Valley Veterans Memorial Squad.
