Jene James Capriotti, 81, of Follansbee, WV, passed away on Thursday, May 29, 2014, at Weirton Medical Center, Weirton, WV.
Jene was born on October 10, 1932, in Follansbee, WV. He was the son of the late Flavinio and Carolina (Raccii) Capriotti.
Jene was a veteran of the United States Army, serving during the Korean War as an armored division clerk at Fort Hood, Texas. He worked as an electrician at IBEW, Local Union 141. Jene was a member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, where he served as an usher, Knights of Columbus, American Legion and a former member of the Theta Chi Alpha Fraternity, all of Follansbee, WV.
In addition to his parents, Jene was preceded in death by two brothers, Amedo “Mimi” Capriotti and John James Capriotti.
Jene is survived by his wife, JoAnn (Yachini) Capriotti of 55 years of Follansbee, WV; two sons, Jim Capriotti, Columbus, OH, and Michael Capriotti of Follansbee, WV; a daughter, Ranee (James) Adams of Hilliard, OH; five grandchildren, Lauren (Matt) Cannell, Anthony and Cameron Capriotti, Bryan and Nicholas Adams; two sisters, Mary Ezzi of Arizona and Betty Bednarek of Steubenville, OH; and several nieces and nephews.
Family and friends will be received on Sunday, June 1, 2014, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. with Vigil Service at 7:30 p.m. at the James Funeral Home, 1245 Main St., Follansbee, WV (304) 527-1717, where funeral will commence at 9:30 a.m. on Monday, June 2, 2014.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, June 2, 2014, at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, 1017 Jefferson St., Follansbee, WV, with Msgr. Paul Hudock, presiding.
Interment will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery, Follansbee, WV, with Military Honors by the United States Army and the Ohio Valley Veterans Honor Guard.
In lieu of flowers, memorials contributions may be made to St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, Follansbee, WV.
