Rhoda J. Cable

CABLE, Rhoda Juanita, 93, of Toronto, OH, passed away Tuesday, April 8, 2014, at the Trinity Medical Center West, Steubenville, OH.

She was born February 1, 1921, in Cambridge, OH, the daughter of the late Loran and Gabriel Louise (Teret’) Freas.

Rhoda was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Toronto and the Gleaner’s Women’s Organization of the church; member and past treasurer of the Toronto Senior Citizens.

She had been employed at the Weirton Steel Co., Steubenville plant during World War II; was owner along with her husband, Dean of the former Toronto Western Auto Store and retired as office manager at the Toronto office of optometrist Dr. James Volk.

Rhoda was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Robert” Dean” Cable who passed away in 1975 and whom she married April 5, 1942, and brothers, Loran and Donald Freas.

Her survivors are: daughters, Linda Nicholson and husband, Orvie of Charleston, WV, Karen Tindor and husband, Andy of Steubenville, OH and Deena Franke and husband, Jay of Toronto, OH; grandsons, Shad Wadsworth of Myrtle Beach, SC, Brian Wadsworth and wife Cicily of Charleston, WV, Josh Franke and wife, Kendra of Ashtabula, OH, and Aaron Franke of Bethlehem, PA; great-grandchildren, Ashton and Britton Wadsworth and Alexis “Lexi” Franke; brothers, Gordon Freas and Terry Freas and wife, Linda all of Bloomingdale, OH; sister, June Granatir of Wintersville, OH.

Visitation hours for Rhoda will be held 4-8 p.m. Friday, April 11 at the Clarke Funeral Home, 302 Main St., Toronto.

A celebration service of Rhoda’s life will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, April 12 at the funeral home with the Reverend Michael Bongart officiating. Burial will follow at the Island Creek Cemetery, County Road 68, Toronto.

Memorial contributions in memory of Rhoda may be made to the First Presbyterian Church, 116 N. Third St., Toronto, OH 43964.
