Gerald L. “Jerry” Rawson, also known to many as “AMO,” 73, formerly of Toronto, OH, passed away Wednesday, April 23, 2014, at his home in Jacobsburg, OH.
Jerry was born April 2, 1941, in Toronto, OH, son of the late Lester and Barbara “Billie” (Turner) Rawson.
He was a member of Church of God, A Worldwide Association. He also was a ham radio operator with the call letters “N8AMO” where he got his nickname AMO. Jerry was retired from First Energy Sammis plant in Stratton, OH, where he worked as a Mechanical Repairman, Class A.
In addition to his parents, Jerry was preceded in death by his sisters, Judy Hitchcock and Lynne Aleksiejczyk; his brother, Larry Rawson; half siblings, Bill Rawson and Delma Marie Candoo.
Jerry leaves behind his wife, Jeanne (Toothman) Rawson of Jacobsburg; his daughters, Barbara (Gene) Corona of Toronto and Tammy (Bob) Schleicher of Richmond, OH; his sons, David S. Rawson of Toronto, Michael (Robin) Rawson of Richmond and Dennis (Brandi) Rawson of Steubenville; nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; step-son Wayne (Debbie) Schroeder, step-son Tom (Pam) Schroeder, step- daughter Jennifer Harris, step-son Ted Schroeder; 12 step-grandchildren and 15 step-great-grandchildren; his mother-in-law, Charlotte Dietz of Salem, OH; half-brother, Charles Rawson. Jerry also leaves behind several nieces and nephews.
Family and friends are invited to Island Creek Cemetery in Toronto, OH, for graveside services on Monday, April 28, 2014, at 2 p.m. with Pastor Don Henson officiating.
