Henry ‘Herk’ Lazasz
LAZASZ, Henry “Herk,” 81, of Tiltonsville, OH, passed Saturday, March 1, 2014, at East Ohio Regional Hospital.
He was born in Tiltonsville on March 23, 1932, a son of the late Joseph and Etta Ragase Lazasz.
Herk was a retired educator and coach, serving at Warren Consolidated and Buckeye Local Schools; OVAC Hall of Fame Inductee; Dapper Dan Member, OHSAA Coaches Hall of Fame, NEA member, a U.S. Army Veteran, and a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Tiltonsville.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Florence Joann Applegarth Lazasz, on Dec. 18, 2003.
Henry is survived by a son, William (Roxanne) Lazasz, of Wintersville, OH; daughters: Deborah (Wayne) Hilliard of Coshocton, OH, Mary (Robert) Sempkowski of Texas, Lisa (Blake) Maresh of Washington; a brother, Donald (Jule Ann) Lazasz, of Rayland; seven grand children: Rachael and Louie Stephenson; Brittany Lazasz; Robert and Gabrielle Sempkowski; and Garrett and Olivia Maresh; several nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received Wednesday 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at Wilson Funeral Home, 102 Main St., Tiltonsville, OH, where vigil service will be held at 7:30 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday, March 6, 2014 at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Tiltonsville, with Msgr. Thomas Petronek as celebrant. Interment will follow at Holly Memorial Gardens, Pleasant Grove.
