Clara E. Callender

CALLENDER, Clara E., 91, of Wintersville, OH, died Tuesday, March 4, 2014, at The Carriage Inn of Steubenville.

She was born on December 24, 1922, a daughter of the late Thomas and Ina Wise Jolly.

Clara was a lifelong member of the United Methodist Church and worked for many years at the former First National Bank which later became Bank One in Wintersville, OH.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Callender; brother, Jack Jolly; and sister, Gladys Eannarelli.

One of the “best looking girls in Smithfield” passed away in the safe surroundings of The Carriage Inn where she was a resident for the last seven years.

She was married to Kenny Callender for many years. They were not blessed with children but had lots of friends along the way who enjoyed the parties they hosted in their wonderful home. She loved to dance and play golf. She loved to dance so much that the last time she visited her niece and nephew in Houston, TX, Patty and Jack Eannarelli, she insisted on going country western dancing.

We wish to thank the loving staff at The Carriage Inn in Steubenville. Clara went into the nursing home kicking and screaming but once they made her feel safe and welcome, she was very content. Special thanks to Carol who would watch over “Aunt Clara” for us.

Clara will be buried next to her husband Kenny. Services will be private.
