William C. Kumbera

KUMBERA, William “Bill” C. Sr., 90, of Steubenville, OH, passed away Feb. 19, 2014, at Wyngate Senior Living Community, Weirton.

He was born April 7, 1923, in Harperville, OH, a son of the late James and Mary (Hooker) Kumbera.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his son, William C. Kumbera, Jr. and siblings, Elsie Berryman, Irene Gosnell, Raymond Kumbera, Robert Kumbera, Wilma Black, Margaret Tolbert, James Kumbera, Edna Kumbera, and John Kumbera.

Bill retired from Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel where he worked as a locomotive engineer.

Bill was a member of Wintersville Methodist Church and lifelong member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles. He was an avid euchre player, anytime, anyplace. He enjoyed spending his time woodworking, traveling, gardening, and many hours at his tool bench.

He is survived by his wife, Ruth E. “Betty” (Hanlin) Kumbera of Steubenville; daughter, Sandra (Frank) Villamagna, Jr. of Mingo Juncttion, OH; stepson, John Shields of Westerville, OH; daughter-in-law, Crista Kumbera of Florida; grandchildren, Frank (Ronda) Villamagna, Stacey (Chris) Hooper, Hannah Kumbera, William Kumbera III, and Steven Kumbera; step-grandchildren, Rachel Smith, Chris, Matthew, and Shawn Novak, Beth, and Bryan Shields; and seven great- grandchildren.

Friends will be received on Friday from 4-7 p.m. at the Everhart-Bove Funeral Home, 685 Canton Rd., Wintersville where funeral services will be held Saturday, Feb. 22, 2014, at 11 a.m. with Pastor Clint Quillen officiating.

Burial will follow at Ft. Steuben Burial Estates, Wintersville.
