Clarence A. ‘Whis’ Whisman III
WHISMAN, Clarence A. III “Whis,” 69, of Toronto, OH, died Tuesday, Feb. 18, 2014, at Trinity West.
He was born in Steubenville on Dec. 24, 1944, a son of the late Clarence A. Whisman, Jr. and Juanita M. Chadwick Whisman, who survives.
Whis was a member of Finley United Methodist Church and was retired from Weirton Steel as an electrical turn foreman. He was a U.S. Navy veteran.
He enjoyed camping and fishing at Tappan Lake, was a member of the Weirton Steel 25-Year Club and the Big Red Boosters, where he was a member of the “Hustlin’ 8.” He loved Steubenville Big Red.
In addition to his mother he is survived by his wife and best friend, Carol Wilson Whisman; son, Kevin S. (Bobbi) Whisman of Edgewater, MD; daughter, Wendy (Richard) Barr of Mingo Junction, OH; sisters, Juanita M. “Dee” Whisman and Martha L. Anderson, both of Steubenville; grandchildren, Celia and Cori Whisman and Morgan and R.J. Barr. He loved being a “pap-pap.”
Friends may call at Dunlope-Shorac Funeral Home, 215 Fernwood Rd., Wintersville, OH on Friday 2-4 and 6-8 p.m., where funeral services will be held on Saturday at 2 p.m. with Rev. Jerry Ernst officiating.
Burial at Union Cemetery. Ohio Valley Veterans Memorial Squad will conduct graveside honors.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Tony Teramana Cancer Center or Steubenville City School Foundation.
