Carl L. Powell
POWELL, Carl L., 86, of Wellsburg, WV, passed away Feb. 26, 2014, in Steubenville, OH.
He was born March 6, 1927, in Paden City, WV to the late Fredrick and Loella Mae Kuhens Powell.
He was retired from Weirton Steel Corp. as a crane operator; he was a Methodist by faith and also a Navy veteran in World War II. He was a member of the Wellsburg Legion Post 34, Wellsburg VFW post 4496 Commander, an avid Brooke, Steeler, Pirates, WVU fan and fisherman.
In addition to his parents he was preceded by his wife, Dolores “Dolly” Brown Powell who passed in 1987; five brothers, three sisters, and three grandchildren.
He is survived by his two sons, Steven F. Powell and his wife Susan of Wellsburg, WV, Rodney A. Powell and his wife Kathleen of Follansbee, WV; two daughters, Vickey Gallagher and her husband John, Sondra Rauschenberg and her husband Harold all of Follansbee, WV; 15 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held Friday, Feb. 28, 2014, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. and will continue on Saturday, March 1, 2014, at noon until the time of service at 1 p.m. at Reasner Funeral Home, 1515 Charles St., Wellsburg, WV with Pastor Kristopher Powell and Rev. Dennis Yingling officiating.
Interment will follow at Franklin Cemetery, Wellsburg, WV with full graveside military rites by the Ohio Valley Veterans Memorial Squad.
