Samuel Warbel

WARBEL, Samuel, 83, of St. Clairsville, Ohio, fell asleep in the Lord Thursday, December 12, 2013, surrounded by a proud and loving family.

He was born February 15, 1930, in Wolf Run, Ohio, a son of the late Ciprian and Irene Kanuik Warbel.

Preceding him in death, in addition to his parents, was his wife of 50 years, Anna Krak Warbel; four brothers, Nicholas, Lucas, Michael, and Steven; and three sisters, Mary Gregor, Anastasia (Nellie) Redovian, and Annie Gregor.

Loving father and cherished Dedo, he is survived by his sons, Daniel (Krissie) Warbel of Russell, Kentucky and Samuel (Lynn) Warbel of Canton, Michigan. Dedo to five grandchildren, Katie, Anna, Halee, DJ, and Sam; sister, Dorothy Kochan of Middleburg Heights, Ohio; and brother, John (June) Warbel of Wolf Run, Ohio; sisters-in-law, Bobbie Warbel of Loudonville, Ohio, and Marie (Irv) Miller of Largo, FL; and brother-in- law, Michael (Susan) Krak of West Palm Beach, FL; and many loved nieces, nephews, and godchildren.

Sam served as a Sergeant in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and was stationed in Germany. He graduated from The Ohio State University with a Mining Engineering degree.

He retired from North American Coal Corporation and was Vice President of Operation for their Central Division in Powhatan Point, Ohio. Sam also served on the Board of Directors for Belmont Savings Bank and Belmont Technical College. Sam especially enjoyed coordinating and working with all of his friends over the years on the annual North American Coal reunion picnic committees.

Sam was a faithful and supportive member of Sts. Peter and Paul Orthodox Church of Moundsville, WV, where he was a parish officer and enjoyed many countless hours of volunteer work, including painting Santa Clauses and donating the proceeds to the church. Sam also enjoyed his visits to the Wellness Center where he had many friends.

Sam Warbel was loved and will be forever remembered by all.

Friends will be received Sunday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. and Monday from 5-8 p.m. at the Bauknecht-Altmeyer Funeral Homes and Crematory, 441 37th St., Bellaire, Ohio.

Funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, December 17, 2013, at Sts. Peter and Paul Orthodox Church, Moundsville, WV, with the Very Reverend Michael Zahirsky as Celebrant.

Panikhida Service will be at 7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Interment will follow at St. Nicholas Orthodox Cemetery, Weirton, WV.

In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting memorial contributions to: Sts. Peter and Paul Orthodox Church, 1109 Morton Ave., Moundsville WV.
