MILBY, Robert J.

Loving father, grandfather, and friend, Robert J. “Bob” Milby, 89, of East Liverpool, passed away on Friday, September 27, 2013, at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital in Pittsburgh from complications of a fall at his home on Tuesday.

Born in Chester on August 19, 1924, he was son of the late Theodore J. and Elizabeth Simballa Milby.

Bob was the Vice President of the First National Bank of East Liverpool and retired there after 28 years.

He was baptized at and was a life time member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Chester where he served the church in many ways over the years.

Bob proudly served his country with the U.S. Navy during World War II and returned home to become one of the founding members of the Chester VFW Post 6450 where he has served as the Quarter Master since the conception. Also, he was a life time Legacy member of the National VFW.

His heart was broken when the love of his life, Joan C. Milby, passed away on September 22, 2008. His brother William Milby also preceded him in death.

His loving family includes his children, Cynthia Capito and husband Joe of Chester, Joan Marie Murray and husband Scott of New Cumberland, and Maureen Hussey and husband Matthew of Myrtle Beach, SC; his sister, Eileen McAvoy of Chester, and his brothers, Paul Milby of Chester, and Ted Milby of California. Four grandchildren, Michael and Nick Capito, and Matthew and Doug Murray, and two great- grandchildren, Maddie and Max Murray also survive.

Rev. Father Eric Antwi will preside for a Mass of Christian Burial at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Chester on Tuesday, October 1 at 10 a.m.

The family will be present at the Arner Funeral Chapel in Chester on Monday from 2-8 p.m. when friends are welcome to visit. Bob prayed the Rosary every day and members of the church will pray the Rosary with him Monday evening at 7:30 p.m.

His burial will be at the Columbiana County Memorial Park in East Liverpool where the U.S. Navy and the Tri-State Veterans Burial Group will accord full military honors.
