James Thompson

THOMPSON, James Kermit, 77, of Burgettstown, PA, passed away Friday, September 13, 2013 surrounded by his family at Canonsburg General Hospital, Canonsburg, PA.

He was born November 15, 1935 in Cross Creek Township, PA, the son of the late Henry H. and Margaret Amanda McCreary Thompson.

He was also preceded in death by his wife, Nancy Sue Wright Thompson; sisters Annie Hause and Mary Riggle; and brothers Louie and Bill Thompson.

He was a member of Tucker United Methodist Church, Richard Vaux Lodge No. 454 F. & A.M., and the Weirton Steel 25-Year Club. He retired from the welding shop of Weirton Steel Corp.

Previously, he had been employed for 17 years as a butcher at Bovalina Meat Packing, Slovan, PA.

Surviving are his daughter, Terri Klages Ken); sons James Thompson and Patrick Thompson (Dena), all of Burgettstown, PA; grandchildren Amanda and Abby Thompson and Ken Klages; and sister Patty Majernik (Paul) of Michigan.

Visitation will be at the Steel & Wolfe Funeral Home and Cremation Services Inc., 3721 Main St., Weirton, WV, on Sunday, September 15, 2013, from 1-3 and 6-8 p.m. Masonic service will be at the funeral home on Sunday at 6 p.m.

The funeral will be held at Tucker United Methodist Church, 641 Steubenville Pike, Florence, PA, on Monday September 16, 2013, at 11 a.m. with Pastor Ken Jacobs presiding. Interment will follow in Chestnut Ridge Cemetery.
