Joseph A. Anderson
ANDERSON, Joseph Alexander, 85, of Steubenville, OH, was called home to glory on Monday, August 5, 2013, at Valley Hospice Care Center North, Steubenville, OH, with his dear family at his side.
Joe was born on September 15, 1927, Colliers, WV. He was the son of the late John Alexander and Emma Mae (Parker) Anderson.
Joe served the United States Army in Europe during the Korean War. He retired as a loyal worker of Koppers Corp. after many years. Joe was a member of the Ferry Glen Church of the Nazarene, Colliers, WV. Many will remember Joe for his gardening, spending time with family and his unending faith in the Lord Jesus Christ.
In addition to his parents, Joe was preceded in death by his three brothers: John H. (his twin), Lawrence Leroy and Frank Anderson; and two sisters, Elizabeth Gilliam and Jessie Gaines.
Joe is survived by his loving wife, Freda Anderson of Steubenville, OH; three brothers: Jack (Carrie) Anderson of Steubenville, OH, Tom (Marie) Anderson of Weirton, WV, and William Timothy Anderson of California; sisters Pauline Kaiser of Wintersville, OH, Carol Minter of Wheeling, WV, and Mary Jackson of Colliers, WV and Norma Brown of Colliers, WV, and a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and cousins.
Family and friends will be received on Wednesday, August 7, 2013, where he will lie in state next to his nephew, John Brown, from 11 a.m. until time of funeral service at 1 p.m. at the James Funeral Home, 1245 Main Street, Follansbee, WV, (304) 527-1717 with the Rev. Stephen Hall officiating.
Formal processional will begin to St. John Cemetery, Colliers, for his nephew, John Brown, graveside service following, then to Highland Hills Memorial Gardens, Follansbee, WV, where his entombment with military honors by the United States Army and the Ohio Valley Memorial Squad will occur.
