Verna J. Steinbach

STEINBACH, Verna J., 85, of Wintersville, formerly of Gnadenhutten, passed away peacefully at her home on Tuesday, July 9, 2013.

Born June 3, 1928 in Stillwater, she was a daughter of the late Charles and Mary Elizabeth (Packer) Mishler.

Verna was a graduate of Gnadenhutten High School in 1946 and a lifelong member of the Gnadenhutten United Methodist Church. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and homemaker.

In her spare time, Verna enjoyed swimming and reading, and she was an avid card player. Her greatest joy came from the time that she spent with her family, traveling with her husband, especially to Florida in the winter and, most of all, being with her grandchildren.

On March 20, 1947, she married Roy R. Steinbach who preceded her in death on September 15, 2012.

They are survived by their daughters, Candy (Michael) Walters of Columbus, Renee (Geno) Morelli of Wintersville, and Wendy (Carl) Beckelheimer of Wintersville; grandchildren, Michael Walters, Ryan, Erin, Matthew, and Marc Becker, Morgan and Mitchell Morelli, and Jessica and Emily Beckelheimer; and great-grandsons, Jack and Clark Becker. Verna is also survived by her twin brother, Vernon (Helen) Mishler of Uhrichsville, and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, and husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Rex Steinbach; a daughter, Kim Becker; and a sister, Josephine Lintner.

Services for Verna, officiated by Pastor Seth Filburn, will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, July 12, at the R.K. Lindsey Funeral Home in Dennison. Interment will follow beside her beloved husband in Gnadenhutten’s Clay Union Cemetery.

Family and friends are invited to call at the funeral home from 4-7 p.m. on Thursday.

Those wishing to honor her memory by a charitable contribution are encouraged to do so to Charity Hospice of Wintersville, 500 Luray Drive, Wintersville, OH 43953.
