STRUM, Raymond “Jack,” 69, of Chester, passed away Friday, July 26, 2013, with his loving family by his side.
He was born June 11, 1944, in East Liverpool, a son of the late Howard and Virginia Tingler Strum.
Mr. Strum served in the U.S. Navy. He was a retired Boilermaker with the International Brotherhood of Boilermakers, Local 154; a former Welding Inspector for Enerfab Co.; and he was a teacher for the Hancock County School System, teaching Air Conditioning and Machine Shop at the Vo-Tech Center.
In addition to his parents, a son, Raymond E. Strum Jr. preceded him in death.
Surviving are his wife, Carol Yoho Strum of Chester; two sons, Charles (Kim) Strum and Barry (Susan) Strum all of Chester; a daughter, Carol Lynn Strum of New Cumberland; eight grandchildren, Wyatt, Barry, Cassidy, Jack, Marcus, Monica, Eddie and Alyssa; three brothers, Lester Strum of Lisbon, Bill Strum of St Marys , and Joe (Debbie) Strum of Cambridge; four sisters, Evelyn (Dick) Laney of Texas, Babe Evans of Chester, Cookie (Bill) Wisor of Pennsylvania and Susie (Kevin) Hileman of Wellsburg; and also by his cousin, Brian Wayt of Chester.
Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. on Monday with funeral services at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, July 30, 2013, at Nixon Funeral Home in Newell.
Burial will follow at Shadow Lawn Memory Gardens, Newell, W.Va., where the Tri-State Veterans Burial Group will conduct military honors.
