Kevin Smith

SMITH, Kevin Wayne, 51, of Wintersville, died Thursday, July 4, 2013, at Trinity West Hospital.

He was born December 9, 1961, in Steubenville. He was the son of Mary Marshall Smith of Steubenville and the late Wayne H. Smith.

Kevin was a graduate of Catholic Central High School and attended Ohio University. He was a Catholic and was employed by Trinity Medical Center West in Steubenville.

Surviving, in addition to his mother, are his wife, Jo Lynn Shoup Smith, whom he married April 27, 2002, his brother, Wayne J. Smith, of Chicago, IL, his sisters, Carol (Jay) Maier of Cranberry Township, PA, Annette (Dave) Feeney of Dearborn, MI, and Christine (Mark) DiMichele of Steubenville, stepsons, David M. (Marilyn) LaRue and Cody A. LaRue, both of Wintersville, and his beloved nephews and nieces, Lucca and Leah DiMichele, David, Ryan and Colleen Feeney and Colin and Luke Maier.

Kevin was an avid fan of the Steelers, Pirates, Pitt, and especially the Penguins. He was an avid history lover, read voraciously, and hiked wherever there was a trail. He also enjoyed vacationing with his wife to Maine, Put-In-Bay, Hocking Hills, Connecticut, and Atwood Lake. He loved to garden when he was at home. Most of all, Kevin enjoyed spending time with his many friends and family.

Calling hours are Monday 4-8 p.m. at the Mosti Funeral Home, Sunset Chapel, 4435 Sunset Blvd., Steubenville. A Funeral Liturgy with Mass will be celebrated 9:30 a.m. Tuesday at Holy Family Catholic Church, Msgr. Gerald Calovini, celebrant. Burial at Mt. Calvary Cemetery. There will be a vigil service at 5:45 p.m. Monday.
