NEWMAN, Ann Marie, 92, of Weirton, WV, went to be with her Lord on Sunday, July 14, 2013, at the Weirton Geriatric Center.
She was born in Hartford, Conn., on August 14, 1920, and was the daughter of the late Harry and Mary Zulick Connovich.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Z. Newman, on November 9, 1955; and their daughter, Kathryn Kimmel on September 6, 2008; brothers, Harry, John, and Joseph Connovich; sister, Olga Kowalik.
Ann was employed by Weirton Steel Company, and retired from her job as a tin flopper (sorter) in the Tin Mill.
She was a lifelong member of St. Nichaols Orthodox Church, and sang with the choir for many years. She also belonged to the St. Nicholas Ladies Altar Society and the Sr. R Club, as well as the Weirton Steel 25 year club.
She retired in 1983 and busied herself with her passion of bowling, enjoying many bowling tournaments around the country and winning many trophies in the process.
She was definitely a “church lady” and worked at St. Nicholas helping with baking nut rolls, making pierogies, pastries and assisting with dinners and bake sales.
Surviving are her daughter, Helen (late George) Rohal; sister, Mary “Connie” (late Frank) Kowalik; son-in-law, Richard Kimmel, all of Weirton, WV.
Ann had five grandchildren and was always a supporting factor in their lives. She leaves behind Diane (Mark) Taylor of Mooresville, NC, Paul (Carla) Rohal of Hilton Head, S.C., Justin Rohal of Hilton Head, S.C. (fiancee Allison Kuenert), James (Suzanne Diequez) Kimmel of Weirton, WV, and Jeffrey (Dana) Kimmel of Weirton, W.Va.
She will be missed by her four great-grandchildren, Joshua Taylor of Williamsville, N.Y., Jessica Taylor of Mooresville, N.C., Carter Rohal of Hilton Head, SC, and Colson Kimmel of Weirton, W.Va.
Visitation will be at the Steel & Wolfe Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., 380 Penco Road, Weirton, WV on Wednesday, July 17, 2013, 2-4 and 6-8 p.m., where funeral services will be held Thursday at 10:30 a.m. with Father John Kopcha presiding. Interment will follow at St. Nicholas Cemetery.
