KOKOS, George Washington Jencko, 75, of Follansbee, WV passed away on Friday, June 7, 2013 at Valley Hospice Care Center North, Steubenville, OH.
George was born on October 16, 1937 in Follansbee, WV. He was the son of the late John and Mary (Metrick) Kokos.
George was retired from the Weirton Steel Corporation as part of the masonry group running the Dozier. He was a veteran of the United States Navy. George spent most of time with his faithful furry companions, Rusty and Dimaggio while hunting, fishing, and gardening.
In addition to his parents, George was preceded in death by three brothers, John “Whittie”, Mike, and Paul Kokos; and two sisters, Mary Gregor and Betty Bowman.
George is survivied by his wife, Maryann (Wargo) Kokos of Follansbee, WV; five children, George G. Kokos of Follansbee, WV, Cindy (Carl) Lucas of Steubenville, OH, Tina Carbasho of Steubenville, OH, Shawn Kokos of Follansbee, WV and Kristal (Greg) Singleton of Mingo Junction, OH; five grandchildren, George G. Kokos Jr., Sharilyn Lynch, Kirk Furioli, Francis Carbasho, Gregory Singleton and Carrie Lucas; four great-grandchildren, George G. Kokos III, Joey Lynch, Antonio Carbasho, and Dalton Carbasho, and several nieces and nephews.
Family and friends will be received on Monday, June 10, 2013 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. and Tuesday, June 11, 2013 from 10 a.m. until time of Liturgy of the Word at 11 a.m. at the James Funeral Home, 1245 Main Street, Follansbee, WV, (304) 527-1717 with Msgr. Paul Huddock of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church and Pastor Joseph F. Cuomo of Christian Assembly of Follansbee, officiating. Military Honors by U. S. Navy and Ohio Valley Veterans Memorial Squad.
Following the service, George will be cremated.
