Rudolph Eyberger

EYBERGER, Rudolph “Rudy,” 87, of Wintersville, Ohio, formerly of Mingo Junction, Ohio, passed away Monday, April 8, 2013, at the Valley Hospice Care Center North in Steubenville, Ohio.

He was born August 14, 1925, in Tarentum, PA, a son of the late Ludwig and Clara (Poth) Eyberger.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Anna M. (Vargo) Eyberger on April 26, 1991; a son, Richard A. “Dick” “Buck” Eyberger in 1995; a brother, Harry Eyberger; and a sister, Marie Nicholaus.

Rudy served his country in the U.S. Navy during WWII, where he served in four major engagements aboard the U.S.S. Goss 444. He received his Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Pennsylvania. Rudy worked for 30 years as a general Forman in the 80 inch at Wheeling- Pittsburgh Steel Corp. He was a former member of the Mingo First United Presbyterian Church where he served as an Elder at the church for 30 years and also was the Clerk of Session twice. He was a life member of both the American Legion and also the Knights of Pythias.

Surviving are his wife, Lillian (Vargo) Eyberger, whom he married on August 22, 1997; a son, Larry (Nancy) Eyberger of Naperville, Illinois; a daughter, Karen Eyberger of Zanesville, Ohio; two grandchildren, Eric Eyberger and Jenna (Jason) Schnizlein; and two great-grand children, Alaina and Noah Eyberger; and one step- grandaughter, Heather (Anthony) Jacobson.

Friends will be received at the Wheeler Funeral Home, 101 Longview Ave., Mingo on Friday from 11a.m. until the time of his funeral services at 1 p.m., with Pastor Kenn Sickles, officiating. Private interment at Oakland Cemetery, Mingo Junction.
