Gerald C. Hasley

HASLEY, Gerald C., 83, of Smithfield, Ohio, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, April 17, 2013.

Gerald was born in Newport, OH, son of the late Dale C. and Gladys B. Webber Hasley.

Gerald retired from Weirton Steel Corp. in 1983 after 33 years of dedication. In his retirement, he found joy working as a banker and getting to know many people.

He was an active member of Mt. Moriah Baptist Church, where he served as Treasurer for over 50 years. Gerald was also an active member of the Smithfield Masonic Lodge 182 F&AM, where he was a Past Master and served as District Deputy Grandmaster of the 24th District, Steubenville Commandery 11, a member of the Knight York Cross of Hounor and The Valley of Steubenville Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite. He was also a member of the Unionport Eastern Stars Lodge 360, where he was Worthy Patron and also served as the Jefferson County Fair secretary for 12 years. He was also Past VP and Chaplain of the Smithfield Senior Citizen Center.

In addition to his parents, Gerald was preceded in death by a sister Shelda Cameron.

Surviving is his wife of 62 years, Betty J. (Patterson) Hasley; son, Wayne Hasley; three granddaughters, Monica (Mike) Hollen, Rachael (Josh) Peckins and Olivia Hasley. He is also survived by his first great-granddaughter Avery Lee, who he was overjoyed to welcome on April 15th; two sisters, Clara (Howard) McClure and Bernice (Robert) Francis; and one brother, Eber (Georgiana) Hasley also survive.

Visitation will be held on Sunday April 21, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m., at the J. E. Foster Funeral Home, Inc., 107 Hill St., Smithfield, OH where Services will be held on Monday at 10 a.m. Pastor John Oliver will officiate and burial will follow in Holly Memorial Gardens.

Masonic Services will be held on Sunday at 5:45 p.m. immediately followed by Eastern Star Services.
