Jane ‘Jean’ Caroline Casagranda McCoy Groves

GROVES, Jane “Jean” Caroline Casagranda McCoy, 88, of New Manchester, died Wednesday, March 27, 2013, peacefully at home.

She was born in McDonald, Pennsylvania on July 20, 1924, to the late John and Columba Springetti Casagranda.

She was a homemaker. She enjoyed baking and raising her children. She also enjoyed her music, especially the song “Celebration” by Kool and the Gang.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Charles W. McCoy; her second husband, Charles A. Groves; two brothers, Joseph Casagranda and John “Bob” Casagranda; and two sisters, Rose Pethtel and Dorothy Klein.

She is survived by two daughters, Linda Brown and her husband Tom Brown of New Manchester, WV, and Caroline Grimm of Brunswick, OH; and a son, Charles McCoy and his wife Theresa McCoy. She also leaves behind seven grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild on the way; two sisters, Betty Stoker and her husband, Ralph of New Cumberland, WV, and Mary Arnas and her husband, George of Warren, OH; and a brother, William Casagranda and his wife, Beverly of Charlotte, NC.

A special thank you to the Hancock County Senior Center and her caregivers. Their help and support enabled Jane to live her final days at home.

At her request, her body is being donated as an anatomical gift to the West Virginia University Medical Center.

There will be a memorial service at the Weirton Heights Memorial Baptist Church, 121 Ivy St., Weirton, WV.

Services will be conducted by the Rev. William C. Stout on Friday, April 5, 2013, at 7 p.m. Arrangements are being handled by Reasner Funeral Home, 1515 Charles St., Wellsburg.
