WALTERS, Paul D., 79, of Brilliant, Ohio, and Sarasota, Fla., passed away Sunday, February 10, 2013, in the Manatee Hospital in Bradenton, Fla.
He was born July 1, 1933, in Martins Ferry, Ohio, a son of the late Paul A. and Elsie V. (Lemmon) Walters.
Paul was a self-employed heating contractor, having started Walters Heating in 1952 with his father Paul Walters, and later working with his son John Walters, who is now the sole proprietor of Walters Heating. Paul is also a member of the First Christian Church in Bradenton, Fla.; a member of the Elks Lodge in Martins Ferry; an honorary member of the Brilliant Fire Department; and the last charter member of the Brilliant Boat Club. He also enjoyed living at his home in Florida.
Surviving are his wife, Carol J. (Cox) Walters, whom he married on November 29, 1952; two daughters, Joyce (Mike) Nichols of Brilliant and Janet (Mike Kuester) Lawrence of Bloomingdale, Ohio; a son, John (Jill) Walters of Brilliant; a sister, Jeannene (Robert) Millick of Bloomingdale; five grandchildren, Dana (Amy) Nichols, Jeffrey Lawrence, Cara (Mike) Smith, Sarah Lawrence and Caitlin Walters; and two great-grandchildren, Maddox and Abagail Nichols.
Friends will be received at the Wheeler Funeral Home, 712 Third St., Brilliant, on Friday from 2-4 and 6-9 p.m. and also on Saturday from 1 until the time of his funeral services at 2:30 p.m. with Dr. Marc R. Tinstman, Minister, officiating. Interment will follow at New Alexandria Cemetery.
There will be an Elks service on Friday at 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
