Striplight Theatre has

events planned in August

WEIRTON — Striplight Theatre will host two events in August from The Ohio Valley Cloak & Dagger Co.

“A Fistful of Outlaws” will be presented at 6:30 p.m. on Aug. 12. The murder mystery is a western-themed play and will be accompanied by hors d’oeuvres and prizes.

“Cloak & Dagger On the Air: 75 Years of Suspense” will be presented at 8 p.m. on Aug. 18-19. The performance is an evening of three one-act radio plays originally broadcast on the long-running, groundbreaking CBS Radio anthology series “Suspense.”

Both events will be held at the Ashley Marie Theatre, 3383 Main St.

Trip to New York City benefits Montani Semper Liberi

NEW MANCHESTER — The Montani Semper Liberi Music & Art group is sponsoring the annual overnight trip to New York City scheduled for the weekend of Sept. 30 through Oct. 1.

Reservations now are being accepted.

The cost per person, from $159 to $209, will cover the charter transportation and accommodations at the historic Wall Street Inn. Discounted rates are available for children age 12 and under. In addition, a continental breakfast will be provided at the hotel.

A minimum $25 deposit per person will secure a reservation. Checks can be made payable to M.S.L. – Music & Art, 116 First St., Chester, WV 26034.

Rock the Big House Festival upcoming at penitentiary

MOUNDSVILLE — The Greater Wheeling Coalition for the Homeless will present Rock the Big House Festival from 1 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Saturday at the Moundsville Penitentiary.

The event will featured The Ten Band, the nation’s premier Pearl Jam tribute band, according to organizers.

Other guests will be Ezra John, Resistance 13, Kaydon and the Kingsman and StepDown.

Pre-sale tickets are $10 each; $15 at the door.

Farm Aid coming to

KeyBank Pavilion

BURGETTSTOWN — Organizers have announced that the annual Farm Aid benefit concert is returning to Pennsylvania.

This year’s festival is set for Sept. 16 at KeyBank Pavilion.

It marks the third time it’s being held in the state since it began in 1985. It was held in Hershey in 2012 and in Burgettstown in 2002.

Performers this year include Farm Aid board members Willie Nelson, John Mellencamp, Neil Young and Dave Matthews with Tim Reynolds. Other acts include Jack Johnson, the Avett Brothers, Sheryl Crow, Jamey Johnson, Blackberry Smoke, Valerie June, Lukas Nelson & Promise of the Real, and Insects vs Robots.

Tickets go on sale Friday.
