Date set for 2019 Gate 5 Industrial Art Festival

WEIRTON — The Gate 5 Industrial Art Festival will return for its second year this fall, according to an announcement by the Renaissance Weirton Corp.

The festival, whose inaugural event was held in 2018, has been slated for 11 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. Sept. 21 at the Weirton Event Center.

The Gate 5 Industrial Art Festival was founded as a way to celebrate Weirton’s industrial roots through arts and entertainment.

Renaissance Weirton currently is accepting applications for food and craft vendors.

This is a free community event founded for the purpose of celebrating our city’s industrial roots through arts and entertainment. Applications can be found online at www.cityofweirton.com/DocumentCenter under the submenu Weirton Renaissance Corp. Application packets also can be requested by emailing cdelguzzi@cityofweirton.com or bbrock@cityofweirton.com, or by visiting the Weirton Municipal Building at 200 Municipal Plaza to pick up a hard copy.

Fees for food vendors are $95 for a 15-foot-by-20-foot space, plus $20 for electricity and $25 for water. There is an early bird discount of 10 percent for vendors who sign up by July 1.

Art and craft vendor fees are $40 for a 15-foot-by-10-foot space, plus $20 for electricity and $25 for water. Artisans can take advantage of a 10 percent early bird discount by signing up before July 1.

The application deadline for vendors is Aug. 30.

As part of the festival preparations, planning also is under way for the second-annual Tin Man 5K Run/Walk.
