Deputies respond

to shots fired

STEUBENVILLE — Jefferson County Sheriff’s Department responded to several reports of shots fired around 10:41 p.m. Monday near the intersection of Bantam Ridge Road and Vireo Drive outside Wintersville.

A deputy said a resident heard several gunshots coming from a vehicle on Bantam Ridge Road. A Wintersville Police officer, who was assisting, found five spent 9 mm casings near the intersection, a deputy said. A witness said the vehicle traveled south towards Fernwood State Forest, according to the sheriff’s department.

RICHMOND — Because of a conflict in schedules, the Salem Township trustees’ February meeting has been changed to Feb. 20. It will begin at 7 p.m. at the Glenn Mills Community Senior Center at 7576 state Route 152 south.

Soup, sandwich

sale set in Brooke

WELLSBURG — St. John the Evangelist Altar Rosary Society will hold a “Soup & Sandwich Sale” located at1300 Charles St. in Wellsburg on Feb. 13 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., or until sold out.

Homemade soup, sandwiches and desserts will be available to eat in or take out.

All proceeds will go toward the Alter Rosary Society, an organization that helps St. John the Evangelist parish.

Since 1998, the Altar Rosary Society has raised more than $6,000 that benefit not only the parish, but the community of Wellsburg.
