The fifth- and sixth-grade student organization will host a week of activities Monday through Friday with hopes of reaching a $2,000 goal. Adviser Colleen Shepherd said students will participate in Christmas-themed dress-up days and spend $1 per day to participate. Themes include Christmas PJ/Slipper Day on Monday; Favorite Christmas Movie Character on Tuesday; Christmas Hat Day on Wednesday; Christmas Socks Day on Thursday; and Ugly Christmas Sweater Day on Friday. Trench game tickets will be sold each day for $1 for a chance to play against the undefeated teachers during an assembly that Friday. Additional activities include an ugly sweater contest and chances to play the Hungry Hungry Hippo game.
Shepherd said other fundraising events will include penny wars during lunch all week. Students will be able vote to send a teacher to in-school suspension by putting pennies in their buckets.
“The teacher who wins will be ‘arrested’ by our resource officer, and the classroom will receive a pizza party. New this year is our Christmas bake sale on Wednesday.
Student Council members will be bringing in cookies and treats along with milk and hot chocolate, and each can be purchased at lunch for $1,” Shepherd said.
