Two arrested in

stolen-car case

STEUBENVILLE — Two men were arrested Sunday in connection with the theft of a vehicle in Amsterdam, the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Department reported.

The sheriff’s department received a report the vehicle was taken from a driveway on Euclid Street between Saturday night and Sunday morning. The department got a call on Sunday the vehicle was seen parked on Liberty Street and two men were walking away. A deputy said the suspects were identified, and the deputy went to a camper on Second Street where one of the suspects was staying. The deputy said Joshua T. Blue, 32, of 227 Ridgewood Drive, Amsterdam, was located inside and a second suspect, Chester R. Bryard, 36, of 220 Mason St., Amsterdam, was located outside.

Bryard told a deputy Blue took the vehicle because Blue said he wanted to go to Carrollton.

Both men were charged with obstructing official business, receiving stolen property and felony theft.

Man accidentally

shoots self in hand

STEUBENVILLE — Rickey Flinn, 47, of 3953 state Route 152, Richmond, was taken to a Pittsburgh hospital on Sunday after he accidentally shot himself in the hand, the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Department reported.

A deputy said Flinn was at his business, R.C. Flinn Auctions, and was attempting to take a pistol apart. Flinn told a deputy he thought the gun was not loaded. Flinn accidentally pulled the trigger, and the gun discharged sticking him in the hand.

Flinn was transferred from Trinity Medical Center West to the Pittsburgh hospital for treatment, a deputy said.

County issues

water boil order

RAYLAND — The Jefferson County Water and Sewer District has issued a 48-hour water boil order through Wednesday afternoon for customers near Rayland due to line break at the intersection of county Roads 15 and 16.

The area includes county Roads 16, 16A and 4, Tina Lane and White’s Lane.

Gas and oil lease

public meeting set

BLOOMINGDALE — Home and land owners in the Bloomingdale area may attend a public meeting set for 6 p.m. Thursday in Village Council chambers.

The meeting is open to anyone interested in gas and oil leases.

HOPEDALE — United Mine Workers of America Local 1304 will meet at 10 a.m. Saturday at Capraro’s Restaurant.

Satellite office to open in Dillonvale

STEUBENVILLE — The satellite office of the Jefferson County Veterans Service Commission will be open from 9 a.m. to noon Wednesday at the Dillonvale City Building, 135 School St., Dillonvale, to assist veterans, dependents of veterans and/or veterans’ widows with VA pensions, compensations, burials, schooling, medical assistance and other veteran benefits.

For information, call the Veterans Service Office at (740) 283-8571 or visit Suite 310, 500 Market St. Office hours are 8:30 a.m. to noon and 1 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. weekdays. It is closed every Wednesday afternoon to the public.
