Vocations Awareness Day set at university

STEUBENVILLE — Vocations Awareness Day is planned from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Oct. 12 a Franciscan University of Steubenville in Finnegan Fieldhouse.

The annual event is an opportunity for students to meet members of religious communities and dioceses from around the nation. Anyone discerning a call to priesthood or religious life is invited to meet with vocations directors.

This year approximately 60 religious communities and dioceses will be represented, including the Diocese of Steubenville and other dioceses as well as religious communities such as the TOR Franciscan Friars, TOR Franciscan Sisters, Dominicans, Carmelites and more.

The event is sponsored by Franciscan University’s Priestly Discernment Program, which helps men discern a call to priesthood or religious life while attending Franciscan University, according to officials.

In the past, more than 500 students have visited the vocations event throughout the day.

The event is free and open to the public. For information, contact vocationsday@franciscan.edu.
